(3) Rev. Arthur Gordon, born December 30, 1858. He entered Harrow, September 1873 ; was Extra Monitor, 1876 7 ; Foot- ball XL, 1876-7 ; captain, 1877 ; left December 1877. He took his B.A. at Trinity College, Cambridge, 1883 ; his M.A., 1S86; and he was an exhibitioner in Theology, in which he took a second. He was deacon. 1883; priest, 1884; curate of St Matthew, Denmark Hill, London. 1883-5 ; St Mary, Putney, 1885-9 ; vicar of Holy Trinity, Hammer- smith, and head of the Harrow School Mission, January 15, 1890 — September 20, 1892, resigning on account of ill-health. He was curate of Hartfield, Tunbridge Wells, 1893-7; and rector from 1897 of Middle and vicar of East Claydon, Bucks. He married June 30, 18S5. Alice Maud Nield, sister of Jonathan Nield, author of the very successful " Guide to the Best Historical Novels and Tales." He lias an only daughter — Mary Lindsay Gordon, born July 24, 18S6. She wrote and illustrated a charming little book, " The Cinderella Owl Book," published by H. R. Allenson, 1905. She was educated at St Hugh's Hall, Oxford, and took a second class, Classical Moderations, 1909.
